TREASURED MEMORIES OF THE PAST,

MENTAL PHOTOGRAPHS THAT FOREVER LAST.

RIDING BIKES UP AND DOWN THE STREET,

GIVING BIG SMILES TO PEOPLE WE’D MEET.

WAITING FOR THE DAY I’D FINALLY HAVE THE CHANCE,

TO ASK YOU OUT TO THE HIGH SCHOOL DANCE.

DRIVING AROUND IN MY FIRST CAR,

(THAT OLD JALOPY SURE TOOK US FAR!)

OUR VERY FIRST DATE, (MAN, YOU WERE HOT!

I LOST ALL WORDS, MY NERVES WERE SHOT!)

THE DAY I FIRST MET YOUR DAD AND MOM,

THE DAY I TOOK YOU TO THE HIGH SCHOOL PROM.

THE DAY WE WALKED DOWN THAT CHURCH AISLE,

STARTING A NEW LIFE WITH A GREAT BIG SMILE.

THE FIRST CHILD CAME, A PERFECT LITTLE BOY,

FILLING OUR GLAD HEARTS WITH A BURST OF JOY.

A FEW YEARS LATER CAME A LITTLE GIRL,

WE WERE SO HAPPY IT MADE OUR HEADS WHIRL.

THE CHILDREN GREW AND LEFT THE NEST,

TO RAISE THEM RIGHT WE TRIED OUR BEST.

YES, WE’RE ALONE HERE ONCE AGAIN,

THE CHILDREN STILL COME BY NOW AND THEN.

DARK HAIR NOW HAS TURNED TO GRAY,

SOON WE BOTH WILL GO AWAY.

YES, MEMORIES MARCH WITHIN MY MIND,

MANY MEMORIES THERE I FIND.

ONLY I KNOW THOSE MEMORIES WORTH,

I WOULD NOT TRADE THEM FOR ALL THE GOLD
ON EARTH.
